In the Czech Republic, vaccination against tetanus is mandatory. It is administered as an intramuscular injection in the shoulder area. The recommended interval for booster vaccination is 15 years, with a broader tolerance of 10–20 years.
Other vaccinations are not mandatory but are recommended:
- Influenza vaccination is carried out annually during the autumn season. It is covered by health insurance for patients aged 65 and over, or those with chronic lung or cardiovascular diseases.
- Pneumococcal vaccination, which protects against pneumonia, is also covered for patients aged 65 and over, or those with chronic lung or cardiovascular conditions. It is administered as a single dose with no need for a booster.
- Tick-borne encephalitis vaccination is recommended for all age groups. From the age of 50, it is covered by health insurance. The basic vaccination schedule consists of three doses within one year and can be started at any time of the year. Booster doses are recommended every 3–5 years.
Additionally, individual vaccination needs can be considered for meningococcal disease, hepatitis A and B, shingles, etc. Vaccinations required for travel to exotic countries should be consulted with the Avenier Vaccination Center, where recommended vaccines and a suitable timeline will be provided.
Health insurance companies offer contributions toward non-mandatory vaccinations as part of their health programs:
